How did it all begin?
Having trained and worked at two highly regarded but very different law firms for 16 years, I realised I wasn’t happy in my existing role. I was barely seeing my family during the week and family life was difficult because of it. I didn’t want to go and work at another law firm doing exactly the same thing. With the encouragement of my husband (self employed himself), I decided to set up my own family law practice in 2019.
The ethos/USP being that you could still get the best family law legal advice in the country, but without having to pay the high charging rates of most other family lawyers and without every single unit being charged and also a firm where you can actually have some work life balance. And so Edwards Family Law was born!
What sets your business apart?
We are a team (now of 12) who are all incredible lawyers, having trained at the best firms in the country, but we do not overcharge our clients – they get the same advice and output but with realistic fees, not just hitting billing targets. We have grown from just me in 2019, now to 12 people. We also believe in being honest and realistic with our clients – they don’t get told what they want to hear just so we can win the work, they are given the honest assessment at the beginning (it’s a worry how many lawyers don’t do this!)
I believe in work life balance – everyone in the team loves the actual job, but also love the workplace and the team. We all support each other, listen and help when someone needs it. Everyone works hard and we play hard too, but they can work from home when they want or need to, there is no Sunday fear here!

To provide high-quality family law legal advice, but without high charges.
