Globechain is an ESG Reuse Marketplace that connects corporates with charities, small businesses and individuals to redistribute unneeded items.

How did it all begin?

I used to work for an investment bank, and when they moved offices across the road and disposed of all the furniture and assets. She thought, why had no one digitized waste, so she went about creating Globechain.

What sets your business apart?

Globechain is the largest ESG reuse marketplace and is a mega marketplace. We are also first to market, the only marketplace to provide seven years’ worth of ESG transparent data and have the largest network effect. Our network of over 10 000 members results in items typically being requested and reserved within 20 minutes.

What is the concept behind your business or the problem you’re solving?

We enable companies to reuse materials and assets to help them reduce waste, their carbon and improve their ESG data, giving a transparent audit trail of where items have ended up, the social impact of the reuse with the power and value of the ESG data helping with credit financing, bond risk, valuations and share pricing. Globechain has two product solutions, external and internal reuse and loaning.

Through internal reuse and loaning, enterprises can reuse and optimise their stock across multi-locations, stores, distribution centres or offices. External reuse gives enterprises access to our global network of members to redistribute their items.

Where to next/What is your brand vision?

Globechain is currently scaling across the USA with global expansion plans for the next two years.

What do you feel passionate about/what drives you?

Growing a business that has an impact.

Share an example of early life that has shaped you?

I’ve had many challenges in life and feel that every experience shapes you a little bit each time.

Highlights of your business journey so far?

When the marketplace ran itself and the first request was made! Growing an amazing team and launching in multi countries on limited budget.

Seek your own council.

Be confident, you know your business better than anyone.

Best piece of advice you have received?

Invest in your company culture as the people in there make the business.

Advice to an aspiring entrepreneur or woman just starting her career?

Know your worth and don’t take any BS!

What funding route have you chosen for your business and why?

Mix of bootstrapping, Venture Capital and now self sustaining.

Some of the challenges you have faced and how you overcame them?

Being a sole founder and ethnic woman trying to persuade a male-dominant world to invest in a sustainable, good business. I overcame these by understanding I don’t need them and those who truly believe in the concept will come at the right moment.

Why is it important to support women-led business?

We need to support and help each other to grow as well as bring on board the men who support the women to grow.
