How did it all begin?
I’m Jackie, Founder of Made Of More and when I hit mid life I did not like what I ran into. I couldn’t understand what was wrong with me - mentally, emotionally and physically. It was a scary time, I didn’t recognise the feelings I was having. When I looked in the mirror I didn’t recognise myself. After wallowing for a bit I decided to take control of the situation.
It struck me that having gone from a career and really enjoying my job, I had unwittingly settled into a role of looking after everybody else in my family - and not doing anything for myself. I put my own needs below everybody else’s and doing anything, even having a haircut, felt like a luxury and made me feel guilty. Writing this I look back and think how silly that was. When I reflected on my state and had some therapy I realised, it’s my time. I’m going to do something for myself.
I began to learn about my hormones and how they were affecting me - in fact how they affect every physiological system in the body. I spoke to doctors and specialists and fully immersed myself in this new world. Along the way I met some truly inspirational women, some of whom I hope to introduce you to. Knowledge is power and armed with this new information I started to try and reframe what was happening to me in a positive light. I had my lightbulb moment: The reality was that I paid too much time and attention to things that really had no consequence. Now, I focus on the things that matter to me, I focus on the things I can change and I focus on the things that make me happy. Made Of More makes me happy and I hope it makes you happy too.
What sets your business apart?
Our team is all experiencing hormonal change and totally get it. The brand stands as a community; a place to discover, share and celebrate women because we truly believe they are made of more. We defy the stereotypical anti-ageing narrative or the one where a skincare routine should be made up of multiple products; we offer streamlined solutions with clinically backed results because women want to see data, they want to know they are not being fed a marketing line. Everything that comes from us is to make women feel the very best of themselves.
What is the concept behind your business or the problem you’re solving?
We are an award-winning skincare brand formulated for the unique needs of hormonal skin. We step in when much-loved skincare routines no longer cut it.
