How did it all begin?

I always knew I will be an entrepreneur one day but I made a plunge and launched my business while being on maternity leave, while navigating studying, working on my business strategy, building my website and breastfeeding my little one all at once.

What sets your business apart?

My personal passion for my services. It is a gift to love what you do as much as I love my business, my clients can truly feel very personal care and passion every time they come for any treatment. It is crucial to pay attention to the details and not to cut corners. This approach provides true value to each client who comes through the Olya Thomson Aesthetics doors.

What is the concept behind your business or the problem you’re solving?

I provide highly personalised skin treatment plans to every one of my clients, allowing my clients to achieve the most beautiful skin while having a luxurious tranquil experience in the process. I solve various skin conditions including hyperpigmentation, acne, loss of tone and elasticity and so much more.

What do you feel passionate about/what drives you?

Female empowerment, supporting women to return to work after having children, supporting new generations, equality in children’s education.

Share an example of early life that has shaped you?

Moving to London when I was 16 to pursue my passion for science was tough and profound in my story. That experience taught me to stay strong, motivated and not to ever give up on my dreams.

Highlights of your business journey so far?

Since launching my own business I have met incredible people who continue to inspire me and help me stay focused on the highest goals. Signing partnership with exclusive skincare brand Valmont has been a joyful highlight.

Key lessons you have learned along the way?

Growth Mindset is the secret to personal and professional growth for me, every time someone says “no”, I hear “not yet”. Change of perspective does wonders.

Best piece of advice you have received?

Whenever you feel down, sweat it out with a workout, treat yourself with something that brings you delight, Then persevere your goals with unwavering determination.

Advice to an aspiring entrepreneur or woman just starting her career?

Do not wait for perfect moment, just start. This flawless moment doesn’t really exist, on your journey to success you have to be flexible with circumstances, and true to your calling.

When making important decisions, gather advice from experts but base your answer on your personal intuition. You know best what works for your business.

What funding route have you chosen for your business and why?

So far I used my personal savings for the launch of the business. I am looking into grants and business loans to expand.

Some of the challenges you have faced and how you overcame them?

My primary function is to improve individual’s skin and every client has their own goals, because of that my approach has to be personally tailored. Sometimes client’s expectations do not meet with the treatment outcomes and it is my job to set correct expectations. I make it my propriety to spend time on private consultations prior to starting work with each client, this gives me a perfect opportunity to curate a treatment plan that will deliver great predictable results and will make my clients happy.

Why is it important to support women-led business?

Only 1% of all investments goes to female founded businesses. It is crucial we support women who are fighting to stand on the equal ground with men. Especially since many women founders are also mothers who have the responsibility of the primary carers in so many cases, which is a full time job on its own.
