The home of exceptional tea.

Expert tea blenders creating delicious wellness tea blends. Award-winning and proudly independent.

How did it all begin?

My passion for culture, cuisine and care for others led me to a life of tea. Originally from Singapore, a melting pot of different cultures, I grew up with the knowledge that tea is a health-giving elixir that facilitates connections with oneself and others. My background as a biomedical scientist has given me a solid grounding to tap into the versatility of the humble tea leaf and nature’s botanicals. With all the intention of bringing enjoyable wellness solutions to everyone, I set up the company in 2010.

What sets your business apart?

Quinteassential goes beyond simply selling tea as a commodity, instead, we amplify the natural goodness of tea by designing blends with scientific authority. We carefully compose our teas + botanicals starting with the good curation of ingredients that work together to achieve a sensory result. Calming or invigorating, thirst-quenching or complementing the food. We aim to capture your heart from the very first sip.

What is the concept behind your business or the problem you’re solving?

By putting science at the heart of our developmental process, we are part of the remedy to real-life problems such as improving focus, gut health, reducing anxiety and better sleep. By living the quintessential life, inner beauty is brought to the surface, in a natural way. Our collection of infusions and single-origin teas can be served hot or cold, on their own or as a flavour-maker. They are effortless to prepare and offer a tasty, luxurious experience that’s good for mind, body and spirit.

Where to next/What is your brand vision?

What do you feel passionate about/what drives you?

Quinteassential was born out of my love for cuisine, culture and care. Tea embodies all these things. Tea can teach you so much about how someone from a different culture lives, what they eat and how tea is used on social occasions to connect with each other. Its superpowers have been known worldwide for centuries and are used as remedies to treat common illnesses. My passion for this extraordinary beverage has led me to this wonderful journey and life of tea.

Share an example of early life that has shaped you?

I was lonely when I moved to the cold and unfamiliar city of London from Singapore at the age of 17. I found comfort and solace in tea and had an extensive collection. I started making and sharing tea over a chat with people I met. I found this helped create deep and meaningful connections. Very soon, now amongst good friends, I became known as The Tea Lady.

Highlights of your business journey so far?

We have won multiple business and food awards, the most recent being The Most Innovative Tea Brand in 2021 and 2022. Our teas have graced the tables of many a Michelin-starred restaurant, we’ve designed tea for fashion designers and Royalty. Most importantly, we put a smile on the face of many customers and we know this through our numerous wonderful reviews.

Key lessons you have learned along the way?

Consistency is key to success.

Best piece of advice you have received?

Learn to say “No”. I’m still working on it.

Advice to an aspiring entrepreneur or woman just starting her career?

Entrepreneurship is a marathon, not a race. Stay focused on your goals and don’t compare yourself to anyone.

What funding route have you chosen for your business and why?

We are currently self-funded, but this could change very soon.

Some of the challenges you have faced and how you overcame them?

Running your own business can be gruelling. Sometimes it’s easy to lose that ‘spark’ or self-believe after a few setbacks. I have wonderful mentors that help me see it from different perspectives to win and pivot and learn from failure to help me move toward success. Believe in yourself, intuition, and vision.

Why is it important to support women-led business?

As women gain more power and influence in the world of business, they bring with them fresh ideas and innovation. Across a wide range of industries, greater gender equality helps to create new products, services, and businesses.
