How did it all begin?
Our Secret Linen Store began, quite simply, with a love of sleep and a passion for beautiful textiles. My sister Harriet and I started the business when we both found ourselves in an uncertain future in my previous business, a textile sourcing agency. We had the dream of creating bedlinen that was thoughtfully designed, responsibly made, and that felt absolutely amazing to sleep in, and selling it directly to our customers on our own website. We’d spent years in the textile industry, had the best factories all lined up, and we knew we could do things better—less waste, add more joy, and a little more honesty about how things are made. It’s grown from there, but the heart of it is still the same: to make lovely things, really well and help people feel good, and look good, every single day.
What sets your business apart?
We care—truly care—about every thread, every person, and every choice we make. We don’t follow trends for the sake of it, and we don’t rush and we have lots of fun along the way. Everything we design is made to last and feel beautiful, with quality, style and comfort leading the way. We’re also honest about how we do things. If there’s a better way to make something—with less impact, more care, or more fairness—we’ll do it. We're proudly B Corp certified, which means we’re always pushing ourselves to be better for people and planet. We believe that a business with founders, and people behind the brand, is what people love and buy into more and more. We dance a lot and laugh ( normally at ourselves).
What is the concept behind your business or the problem you’re solving?
We all love a good nights sleep—but too often, the things that surround it are either wasteful, synthetic, far travelled or designed without care taken on the little details. We wanted to create a place where people could find beautifully made, natural, long-lasting bedlinen and super stylish home comforts that are good for you and kind to the planet. The problem is that the textile industry can be murky and overwhelming—we’re here to bring a bit of clarity, a lot of comfort, and a softer, slower way to shop for your home. We want to make that ohhhh moment when you get into bed each night even better, it’s the best part of the day after all.
What is your brand vision?
To make the world a more comfortable, stylish, thoughtful place—one bed at a time. We want people to fall in love with bedtime and mealtime again and again, to cherish the things they bring into their home, and to know that the choices they make can have a positive impact. Our vision is to grow the right way, to keep questioning and improving, and to make things better: better made, better sourced and better for your home. We want to inspire, and make every single day, and the things that we do, special.
