Inspiring joy through art and design, and helping brands that do good get noticed.

Shelbi is an artist and designer known for her bold, playful work that is designed to inspire joy. She helps passionate entrepreneurs and purposeful businesses grow and gain visibility through her unique branding and product design services.

How did it all begin?

In 2020, with the rise in entrepreneurship and small start-ups and the additional time provided by the lockdowns, I began designing logos for friends and family, alongside my in-house graphic and product design role. Through this, I discovered my passion for helping people grow their businesses and started promoting my brand design services online. At this time, I also began to experiment with my artistic style, participating in design competitions, and posting my work on social media. In November 2020, I quit my 9-5 to focus on growing my business.

What sets your business apart?

With my expertise in both commercial product design and graphic design, I am able to offer support for pretty much all areas of creative. Think of me as your one-woman solution to an in house design team!

What is the concept behind your business or the problem you’re solving?

I help emerging brands get noticed through unique visuals, whether that’s strategic branding or standout merchandise designs. I aim to bring a bit of joy and whimsy to everything I create.

Where to next/What is your brand vision?

I’d love to continue to work with brands doing incredible things all round the world, whilst also venturing into creating smile-making art for peoples homes!

What do you feel passionate about/what drives you?

Helping businesses that do good get noticed and making social media a more joyful, healthier place.

Share an example of early life that has shaped you?

When we were little my sisters and I were always making up games and finding creative ways to entertain ourselves. We particularly loved ‘sticking and glueing’ (cutting out images and shapes from magazines and making scenes with them). I think this definitely had an impact on being creative.

Highlights of your business journey so far?

Working with inspiring women from around the world. Seeing products and stationery I’ve designed out in the world, being used and bringing people joy!

Key lessons you have learned along the way?

Your health and well-being needs to come before anything and understanding when it thrives you and your business thrive.

We learn from failure, don’t be so scared of it.

No one has it all together!

Sometimes you just need a break to come back refreshed and excited to get back to it again.

Best piece of advice you have received?

A happy healthy business needs a happy healthy you.

Advice to an aspiring entrepreneur or woman just starting her career?

Don’t let fear of judgement or failure stop you truly going for what you want!

What funding route have you chosen for your business and why?

Some of the challenges you have faced and how you overcame them?

Small business burnout (I’m still working on). I wouldn’t change it for the world but there’s no doubt about it doing all the things as a one-woman business is hard. Sometimes when things are super busy I neglect prioritising self-care. Setting clear working hours (with a dinner time cut off!) has helped with this a lot, along with planning in breaks to my schedule and getting in a daily walk.

Why is it important to support women-led business?

It’s so important to lend our support to businesses led by women, to help reach gender equality and encourage economic empowerment. It brings a wonderful variety to our marketplace, sparks job creation, and gives a boost to our economy. Women-led businesses also often prioritise social impact, creating a positive ripple effect in their communities.
