Share an experience or challenge that has shaped you? Working with the Chernobyl children’s project in my 20s. Being part of a nursing team visiting the orphanages that appeared as a result of this disaster has shaped my soul forever.
Best piece of advice you have ever been given? When looking at the financial growth of your business remember to remind yourself of the consistent past performance as opposed to worrying about what’s not booked in ahead.
What advice would you give to your younger self or a woman just starting her career? Back yourself early. Don’t wait until your hand is forced to take the risks. So may female founder business are founded on not having a choice. Take the risks before life gets complicated.
What does success mean to you? Work life balance!! something I am still trying to achieve. Financial success is one thing but having the ability to let the business work for itself and have an emotional disconnection is extremely challenging.
How do you handle challenges and changes? What's in your toolkit? Honestly my reaction to change is keep moving and adapting and having the emotional resilience to drive forward. My tool kit is knowing that I have managed to succeed through determination and drive when I was at breaking point.
Why is it important to support women in business and women-led business? We get the challenges that women face that are not always visible. When we support one another we thrive.

60 Seconds with Emma Kelliher

My inspiration is: Other females doing it for themselves. The outdoors, the quiet stillness of the countryside always creates moments of wellness that I crave.
My greatest fear is: Standing still and not doing it.
The most courageous thing I have ever done is: Purchasing the premises for my first clinic. When multiple contracts fell through when attempting to negotiate contracts for premises I took the plunge and became my own clinic landlord. This gave me the confidence to then do it again which has under pinned the future of the clinics.
I am most proud of: Dragging myself out of a hole when my marriage broke down and I had 3 children under 3 needing me to survive it.
Guiltless pleasure: Friday chocolate with a cuppa tea whilst using the tumble dryer for the school uniforms on a summers day.
Mantra I live by: When times are tough keep moving.
Female role model: I have so many. I tend to gravitate to females that have founded their businesses in times of personal devastation because they had to. Their hard work and drive to survive then created something almost accidentally that they didn’t know they were striving towards.
Women-led brand I love: Again I have many but Sara Blakely Spanx is a good story. Not only did she found the company with minimal funds, she also solved a female problem in shapewear! It's females like this I aspire too.
