Kika Mitchell Photography

I create beautifully relaxed photography that you will be so in love with that you can't wait to share. Families, businesses, events and commercial work are my favourites.

Share an experience or challenge that has shaped you? I am an only child, with a weird name and curly hair. Growing up all I wanted was to fit in and be like everyone else. I have grown to accept and love my differences and my natural gifts. This has taken lots of work and acceptance and now I nurture all the different versions of myself, the little Kika, the 20 something Kika, mid-life Kika and the future Kika. I want to make older Kika so proud of what I’m about to achieve. I also now respect and admire that I don’t fit in, I’m totally unique and hopefully fairly memorable.
Best piece of advice you have ever been given? “There’s the quick and the unlucky!”
What advice would you give to your younger self or a woman just starting her career? Don’t price too low - you will devalue your industry.

Where you are now is the sum of everything you have done before - you are not the novice you think you are just because you are starting something new.

What does success mean to you?

Success to me feels like getting paid to create, collaborate and take the day off when I fancy!
How do you handle challenges and changes? What's in your toolkit?

I handle challenges and changes slowly. I have to sit with whatever is challenging me and process it until it's something I can work through. Now I don't drink I can't numb anything, I have to feel it deeply to accept it. In my toolkit is an amazing support network, sound baths, early nights and dog walks.
Why is it important to support women in business and women-led business? I love supporting other female founded businesses to enable female financial growth and independence. Ultimately if the world were commandeered by women it would undoubtedly be a stronger, more connected and more wonderful place for our children to thrive.
