Rosie’s Reinvention Retreats

After a long career in women’s magazines, latterly as the award-winning Editor and Editor in Chief of HELLO! magazine, where I worked for 16 years, I super-charged my career for the next chapter and am a qualified life coach, speaker and experienced podcast host. In 2024 I launched Rosie’s Reinvention Retreats - a series of day retreats for midlife women, to support navigating changes in career, business and wellbeing.

Share an experience or challenge that has shaped you? About three years ago I was close to burnout and struggling with a work identity as Editor in Chief of HELLO!, which didn’t gel with my values any longer.
One day I hit a breaking point. My mental and physical health took a turn and I thought: ‘I’m done with this’. I cried a lot.

Because of that, I had to take some time off work. I reevaluated what I wanted from my working life. Because of that, I decided to train as a life coach and qualified in 2023.
Finally, last year, this experience gave me an idea and I founded Rosie’s Reinvention Retreats. My retreats offer a series of day retreats to support midlife women through life’s reinvention moments, from career to business to wellbeing. It is the accessible day retreat with genuine experts that I had been looking for, and uses all my experience and contacts from my former life as a magazine editor.

Ever since then I’ve turned my working life around. My work hits my values and I LOVE it!

Best piece of advice you have ever been given? If you can be anything, be kind. I’m passionate about this subject, having written a book on the power of kindness. The hardest thing of all can be showing compassion to yourself, but the world is so much more fulfilling and joyful when you are able to nurture yourself as you would a close friend
What advice would you give to your younger self or a woman just starting her career? You have all the answers within you. Don’t get distracted by what others are doing, or on the occasions when you do, use this as motivation to fulfil your own dreams. Be authentically you and proud of it because you are enough.
What does success mean to you? Hands down, happiness.
How do you handle challenges and changes? What's in your toolkit? Mindset is everything… Reinvention doesn’t mean starting from scratch, it means growing into your potential. Now I see my breakdown as a breakTHROUGH and challenges as opportunities. It takes increased self-awareness to get there, but it is always possible. I believe that it is never too late to reinvent!
Why is it important to support women in business and women-led business? Sadly, women are still way behind in the pay gap and don’t receive the same investment opportunities. The more we can consciously support women in business, the greater change we ALL have of success. I really believe that communities like TWC are essential because peer to peer support offers so many opportunities for all of us.
